Contracting in Spain - any websites?

Hi Guys,

it seems the IT contracting business in the UK is thriving, which is great for you guys, but i live in Spain, Barcelona to be exact. I really dont want to come back for 3-6 months a year for short-terming, but i can't find any IT contracting websites over here. Do any of you have any advice, or recommendations?

Good luck on that one. Contracting opportunities in Spain always were pretty thin on the ground. I'd imagine they'd be pretty much non existent now.

I did a couple of years at OHIM in Alicante (EU trademarks office) through Intrasoft international. I know they're not there any more - El Corte Ingles is running that part of the operation & it's worse money & conditions for those that are still there.

I lived in Madrid between 2000-2006 as a BA and did some contract work at the end. Would I recommend it? No.

Hardly any contracts, lots of bodyshops set up by friends of friends in the company, I can PM you an agency I used, but the rates were very poor. I assume that you speak Catalan/Spanish fluently? Early 2000's and the consultancy I worked was very cosmopolitan with non-native speakers embedded in teams after they noticed the cost of expats and this changed to local hires.

How did you find it out there? i'm assuming you enjoyed it if you were there for a couple of years? been approached for a BA role for that same company, OHIM in Alicante, but the rate is very poor indeed.

I'm almost taunted with the concept of living and working out there, but not sure about it as I have never contracted or worked outside of the UK.

Any comments or feedback on your experience would be invaluable!

Quite a few contracts in Gibraltar, mostly betting and gaming related. Know a few people who moved there both perm and contract. Also Malaga seems to have some companies in that sector. There are several specialised agencies working form Gib. Google is your friend.
