It needs the state broadcaster to start taking the issue seriously, and start looking at it through the eyes of the decent citizens of this country and not their politically correct pro immigration wine bar set eyes.

It needs to be front and centre on the Radio 4 current affairs programmes, the evening newsnight programmes, and so on.

We also need broadcasters like LBC in london to understand the issues, and not dismiss any discussion of these issues as racist.

A UK based person who had originally entered the country on an ICT visa, and had been given indefinite leave to remain or British citizenship simply for working here a while? Or a native Brit?

Dunno, but they were at pains to repeatedly point out it was a UK-based person. If it hadn't of been, I expect the fallout from the public would have been far greater. It's only a matter of time though before it happens.

Very high chance it was a worker for an Indian outsourcer. The worker may have indefinite leave to remain or British Citizenship now but almost certain they originally came into the country on an intra company transfer visa and have been given indefinite leave to remain or citizenship simply for working here a while.

So technically yes a British resident maybe, but a native worker in the sense we would understand almost completely not likely.

nope it was 5 years to get indefinite leave, and another 2 for citizenship

yes brand new ICT visa entrants are supposedly not allowed to transition to indefinte leave but all those tens of thousands already with ICT visas can continue on their path to indefinite leave... and the new ones will probably be let in under human rights legislation - right to a family life, their children are already mid way through school, and so on, so I wouldnt bet my cotton socks on the new entrants not getting indefinte leave 5 years from now
