    Strange email from an agent

    OK, even stranger than normal....

I got the following email yesterday from an agent:
    Hi TF,

Please as discussed can you please send me your most recent CV for the XXXXX position.

Let's speak again this evenening. I will send you the job spec shortly. I’m just waiting for a colleague to return from a meeting as it's on his machine.

I should be able to get this to you before we speak again.

    Many thanks,

    A Pimp
The role mentioned is something that sounds interesting and that I could do.

    The strange bits:
    • I don't know who the pimp is
    • I've never spoken to the pimp
    • I've never spoken to anyone from the agency
    • I'm not even remotely connected to him on LinkedIn
    • I have no idea what he is talking about

Is it just fishing for my CV? If so, I really wonder why they bother, since it's on enough jobs boards to find it.

Needless to say, I haven't had the job spec sent over yet

Well, he did say "I’m just waiting for a colleague to return from a meeting as it's on his machine."

He may have injured himself falling off his machine during the meeting?

did he start it with "Dear Faqqer"? If not perhaps he meant to send it to someone else

Mind you I get emails from agents i've never spoken to either, they must have just seen my CV on a job site.

I get lots that say "I saw your CV on job serve..." or similar, but never one which refers to a phone conversation that never took place!!

It's a mystery wrapped in a riddle wrapped in an enigma, or something.

You lucky, lucky so and so.
Most of the emails that I receive from agents goes something along the lines of
            " I have a job, give me a ring "
            And that's it.

No, good day sir and how's your father.
Do they want to me ring them and congratulate them on their job?
or, do they have a job for little o'l me - but doing what?
Dinner lady, call girl or picking turnips..

            MMm. Turnips. I like turnips.

If some mystery brunette gets shot trying to pass you secrets from large evil corp. I'd start getting a bit suspicious.

              But that's just me.

Personally, if it were me -

"I've left my CV in the dead drop location. May the red fox reign supreme over the yellow canary" or some rubbish like that. Nothing but fishing for info amigo.
