    Client insisting on umbrella

This looks like an extension of the new ps regime being implemented.

Acquaintance of mine was telling me his contract will only be renewed if he works through umbrella instead of LLC. Client is private sector but their clients are public sector. I had not heard of this happening before but is this something with which anybody here is familiar?

LLC? Seems you are working through an American company, have you considered the taxation aspects of this - assuming you are American too you will be liable for tax on your Worldwide income.

Suggest you contact an international tax expert? I'm NLUK will along soon to confirm my theory, I think we might both be incredulous that someone is trading with a US LLC in the UK, in fact NLUK is particularly abstract about LLC's, it's one of his major bugbears.

Close down the LLC, and trade through a UK Ltd.
