Very interesting...which client was this btw?

But seriously, from what i've gathered as a know nothing agent, if your opinion of agile isnt - lets implement the basics and then see what works for the team - then its the wrong opinion.

So that tech manager is a tool. Right?

Well, suffice to say that he does not realise how much he is caught up in his own tulip. I guess he might be smooching himself in the mirror everyday
It's a company based in Theale, and O2 has some vested interest in it... that might give you some clues.

You'll probably get a call in a weeks time when they've found no-one else who satisfies Mr Agile

Interesting you mention that. Apparently they interviewed 5 candidates yesterday, and hired one. They were/are looking for 3 devs in total, and that hire leaves 2. The agent was quite pushy about the fact that he is sending 2 candidates (me and someone else), so I should prepare well to get recruited. Apparently today's were the last interviews they wanted to conduct, so I guess failing the other candidate would leave them with just 1 hired dev..lol
Sadly I took out all my anger on the agent and the poor sod listened patiently. Obviously, that also meant that he was furiously typing on the keyboard regarding some questions asked, and I told him that even if they offered double, I would not touch that tech guy with a barge pole.

                Consider it a lucky escape.

                The interview sounded Brent-esque.

If the hiring manager, as a human being, can't get a feeling/make a judgement about people they meet without resorting to some role-play bollocks or test then you're best off out of there.

Been in situations like that before. I just turned the question around on to them asking what they needed doing and I would give my opinion on how best to approach it and get it done. If it turns out they have advertised incorrectly then I just don't waste my time trying to impress tulips any more - I just politely say "I think you're seeking a full on Agile specialist by the sounds of it and as you can see from my CV I don't think this is a good fit".The end.

You didn't get it - but so what? Sitting there listening to some jumped up little twit just makes you realise you don't want to work with them so they did you a favour. You're a business; they contacted you to get a job done. Expect a few technical questions but when it becomes personal then that's when you draw the line. This bloke made it personal - almost attacking and challenging you into an argument.

If you start this stupid childlike roleplaying thing again, asnwer a couple of questions to see where it is going and if it heats up like today then just stop it and say politely "I don't think I would want to work here. Sorry". Awkward situation but at the end of the day, they put a complete stranger into it - so why waste your time.

You did the right thing - at least you don't ever have to work there and see him again.

You totally reflected my thoughts. Next time, I am going to cut the interview short and make myself busy on something more interesting like NFS World.

(I like Agile btw, but I wouldn't have managed the full hour.. )

SDLC is the layer 2 protocol for IBM's Systems Network Architecture (SNA). This is pretty old hat no?
