I've an interview lined up for a contract in a bank. However, I've just been told by the agency that a credit check has to be done before the interview.
I wouldn't have a problem with it if I was offered the role, but just for the interview seems a little excessive!!!
Was the job at Bromley?
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think
I had the CC with RBS - but it was after the interview once I'd been offered. HTH

Well, it just gets better. I was ok doing the 1 page credit check prior to the interview, but as part of the screening there also appears to be a much longer doc to fill in with things such as:
- Personal info (passport no)
- Employment history
- Banking details. One Q is:
Do you have a credit card?
Please give details of your main credit card: the one you use most frequently or the one with the greatest balance
Am now thinking of advising that I won't be going forward for this.

aye all this is standard mate. Credit check, right to work, security chec, all rolled into one. Still very strange this is before an interview though
Call me paranoid, but are you sure these people aren't trying to steal your identity?
I seriously thought this at one point. But having been through the process and come out the other end I don't think so. Mind you there is no way I would have done it had I not known the company that I was interviewing for, however having been to the office, met the team etc., realised that I was being paranoid

I am not in the banking section, so I am never likely to have to put my money where my mouth is but.....
Could you not write them a letter as a director of your own Ltd. stating that you can confirm the ID of the worker and that you know him to be upstanding and of good character etc and that your Ltd. will indemnify them against any loss or legal action against your employee?
I am not qualified to give the above advice!
