This great opportunity is being offered on a PAYE basis which means a LTD/Umbrella company cannot be used.

So this is a case of the lack of job security of being a contractor, with a few of the nice parts of being a permie. Contractors forced to go PAYE....is this how they are going to get around the IR35 public sector thing then?
Spring \ Comp People \ Adecco group tried this on at a major financial client I was contracting at. They had **** all takers because the conditions were tulipe never mind the pay \ benefits offered being pants.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

I guess the economy must really just be in that much of a mess.
Spring tried it on me a couple of years back....when the same role was being advertised by another agent as a proper contract role. Told them to shove it...utter greed on their part if you ask me.

By the time I factored in my costs, PAYE status, etc then it just wasn't worth my time even thinking about it beyond saying "no".
Well known Insurance company, was it? They have been squeezing the market for years so I am not surprised.
