Well, there is that. Plus you get to work with the OP's idea of what the "latest practices" are rather than just being entrusted to get on with what you know works. If you ask me to do free weekend support too I'm in!

you are the classic "glass half empty" aren't you?

Would you rather he said "we're stuck using a mix of VBA, VB6, Access running on Windows XP and must support IE6?"

I'm just always a little wary when someone with the word "architect" in their job title imagines that their imposing their idea of best practice upon others is a good reason for the people they seek to recruit to consider a rate that is "not fanstastic". But each to their own.

To be fair, the OP said LATEST technologies and practices

tbh, regardless of the terminology, it's nice seeing someone post any opportunity here, let's have more of it I say

Hence my use of the phrase "their idea of". In my experience, the combination of words used in the OP generally translates to "you will be subjected to micro-managing for low remuneration".

Anyway, I'm not here to pooh-pooh people posting genuine gigs. I think it's a great idea for ClientCos and agents to be able to post roles here directly for free, and that CUK should maybe even have a separate forum for that purpose that would rival alternatives like JobServe. You just need to be realistic when you're advertising, and accept that the feedback you get here may be blunt but will usually be accurate. Stating that you're seeking qualities that regularly top the list of most sought-after skills, but that you're paying rates that are "not fantastic" probably doesn't qualify as realistic. Good isn't cheap and cheap generally isn't good. However, I wish the OP good luck with this one anyway.

Absolutely, started the week slowly, now I'm off to Switzerland in a fortnight.
