2. Shall I ask for a hike in my rate?

You don't ask for an extension. You drop a gentle reminder that your contract is due to expire soon, and mention if you're still needed you'd need to get a contract extension agreed and signed.

Remember -- the client/agent hired you to provide services for them, not so they could provide you with income.
