    Contracting direct with client

    Hi,

    Anyone had any experience of going direct with large corporate clients?

    I am new here and have been contracting in the market for over 10 yrs now, always going via agency.

    Recently, the client has asked me that they would prefer to go direct and serve notice on the agency.

    My initial reaction to this has been a positive one.

    I have read a few bits and pieces online about payment schedules but not worries about this, what I am really interested in is advice on how to get the contract reviewed and also negotiating on it.

    Client has said they are drafting a contract and new rate - so just waiting on this currently.

    Appreciate your time and thoughts.

    Simple answer - Join PCG if you haven't aleady (and if not, why not?) and use the PCG direct contract. No need for a review, just make sure your working practices match.

        Do you have it in writing from the agency that they are going to allow this to happen with no financial/contractual problems for you and your company?

        I've only done what you are doing once - and the agency required a payment of several thousand pounds to "walk away." The client was prepared to pay for that and did.

        I'd also be very wary of IR35 issues - make sure the contract is bullet-proof. Plenty of independent reviewers if you don't want to go via PCG (use Search to find them.)
