Would you like to recommend a colleague

This is another flavour of "I just need 2 references".

A recruiter calls up and spends
10 minutes phising for information about my work place---
Where are you working right now, your daily rate etc., where do you stay, commute, your ideal job location etc.?
Why are you looking for a job change, your contract end date etc. etc?

    And then -

I have a xxxx role, would you like to recommend a colleague?

All the time I am thinking its about me, and not about recommending a colleague...makes me real

Hmm. Never had that. I get the 'can you recommend someone' if I say Im unavailable.

Last few days I've been getting emails for roles which Im not interested in and have replied via my co's, ahem, Resource Manager, asking the agent to provide T&C's of their referral scheme!
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

When ever I am asked for these, or basically any request for a "dodgy" agent I have now started to pass on the details of other pimps, my theory for as long as they are on the phone to each other thats two contractors that are getting 5 mins peace and quiet

I've got that in the past. My way of calling it to an end politely is to ask them to forward me the role spec for the job I'll forward it onto those I'd recommend and they can get back to the agent if they're interested. I have actually got a role for a friend this way but most of the time it's just bluff and bluster by the agent.

          That's what I do.

I had one agent tell me that "your mate is probably on our list already, so you might as well tell me who it is." I replied "well, if she's on your list, then you should probably ring her. Or you can send me the details, just in case she isn't."

Never heard any more from him.
