CFA for developers - Does it happen? Does it help?

Was thinking about doing a CFA Level 1. I'm a developer. Do you think that would help contract prospects in the City enough for it to be worth the significant time and money involved?

Have there been developers you have worked with who did this exam (and passed) or is it something that developers just never do?

I expect it would help, particularly if you are aiming for Front Office, where business knowledge is more useful.

I've heard from non-dev people who have done it, that its quite hard.

Not something I would bother with personally, I've worked with FO and although would be useful wouldn't say it was a requirement.
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.
