Starting Contracting - what I need to know and do?

    Hi all,

I've been working as a full time web developer for around 5 years and have experience in ASP.NET, C#, MVC, Web Forms, JQuery, SQL Server and more.

I'm looking to get into contracting as the wages are alot higher than full time work. As a contractor virgin, what do I need to do to start contracting? Also what considerations are there for a full time worker transferring to contracting?

    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks

First step is to read the first timers guide on the right. ---------------------->

    1. 'Wages' are only only higher with a contract or a huge warchest - Six months on the bench is six months with no income...

    2. You will most likely find that on accepting a role, you'll need to start quickly, so that means quitting your permie job and being available immediately, none of this notice nonsense. So you will need about three months worth in earning in the bank to tide you over.

Other than that it's quite obvious you haven't searched - as a contractor that's an epic fail already....
