    On Call and Contracting

Just been sent a job spec and it mentions "On Call", now I am not mytheried by being on call, did it long enough when a permie, just not sure how it would work when contracting.

    Has anyone got any experience?!

Yeah, this one came up a while ago, a few people gave their opinions and call out rates. Have a read

    http://forums.contractoruk.com/busin...out-rates.html

The forum doesn't search for these short terms very well so try doing a google for:

    site:contractoruk.com "call out"
    site:contractoruk.com "on call"

Personally I wouldn't do on-call for free unless the rate was outstanding. What if you are away on the beach or pissed in a pub? Would they expect you to have a laptop handy to sort some stuff out? Every gig is different I suppose.

Last time I did it I got half rate, going to full rate when the phone rang (min two hours)
