Perhaps it's time to start ignoring this type of person or negative repping them so everyone will know that they are inclined to not listen to people. It's not that we're unfriendly here but that there are some people on the forum who patiently give good answers (often to variations on frequently asked questions) and newcomers need to listen carefully and consider what these people have to say rather than babbling.
Not unfriendly? Really. I'd be interested to see how many newbies have come onto these boards asked a possibly basic question, been flamed by one of the regulars and never come back.

Also, its an internet forum. No-one is forcing you to read every single post. If someone posts something you aren't interested in then dont read it or reply. Simple.

Some people on here act as if I'm standing on their front lawn with a loudspeaker...

In my case I know I will happily answer a few stupid questions from anyone. There is however a limit when that person starts asking the 3rd or 5th basic question and they clearly haven't read the previous comments.
