I'm a newbie on this board, I am not sure if I can name and shame this agency, you tell me.
They posted an ad on the Jobcentre website and CWJobs about a temp 1st Line IT Support position in Coventry. The ad on CWJobs is constantly changed (I guess it's keyword rotation). The title also changes but the CWJobs ref is the same. So I sent my cv in. The lady (a chavette with horrible council estate English) didn't want to tell me the lenght of the contract and the salary over the phone, only that it was around Coventry. I said: if you don't want to tell me, I can't progress with you. She said, first you come to our office with your cv (she had it already) and references of the last two years and then we talk about it. And this was already a bit suspicious.
I replied that I wouldn't bother going to the office if I don't even know what you offer and for how long. The chavette, after long insisting, told me that the contract was for one month (!) and a wonderful 7 pounds an hour. I politely said: thanks but no thanks. Then she rang me back and she said: why don't you send me your references and I'll see if I can find you something better.
I replied: you first find me something better and I'll show you my refs.
She mumbled something that I couldn't understand I think she hung up on me.
I think all she wanted was the details of my last managers so she could ring and pester them.
