    alexander mann + telco's

    HI,
Anyone had any experiance of Alexander mann and their contract requirements? They stipulate that you can only bill after the contract has bascially finished, and they take up to 30 days to cough up.

Looking about I'm not the only person to have alarm bells ringing when I can potentially be out of pocket for 4 months before getting paid!

Do a quick search for Alexander Mann on this site, and see how many positive, encouraging comments you can find posted by others. To save you the time and trouble, you won't find any.
If you're in a position to ignore them and look elsewhere, you'd be well advised to do so.

That's the same conclusion I came to - thanks for verifying my opinion!

They reneged on a *signed* 6 month contract along with Atos Origin.

Avoid both companies like the plague.

Alexander Mann seem to require you to work 30 days, then invoice usually by email without any notification that they have recieved it or processed it, then they lounge about for a week, start the clock running from then, and eventually pay 30 days after that....

Subsequent to that you CAN invoice weekly, but with the same one week + 30 days waiting for them to cough up.

        Go elsewhere!

I just got put forward by Alexander Mann and they seemed to be very professional and upfront about everything. They assured me that they did not expect contractors to opt out (like many do to be represented) and they told me that they would pay weekly once the first month was up and that the first payment would be in the fifth week. Not ideal, but it's not that bad if they cough up weekly in the second month of the contract and thereafter. Surely that's better than being paid monthly every month if they're not prepared to pay weekly from day one. From my experience my first payment on any role tends to take at least a couple of weeks anyway.

They also asked me to send references up front too. Not good, in my opinion so I sent them written ones and told them unreservedly that verbals could not be done to authenticate the written ones they've now got until after the role has been offered. No problem there either. Plus they honoured my own terms and conditions without hesitation over representation rights.

I've dealt with far worse frankly. Mind you I haven't yet been placed on site with them yet.

I have the contract Alexander Mann / Atos Origin reneged on in front of me - in writing it says invoicing will only be accepted after 30 days, processing will take a week, and payment 30 days further on from that date. And thats exactly what happened.

Id check the contract very carefully, not listen to what they say to you verbally. By payment they might mean youre invoice is processed and you get put on their 30 terms. You need to email an approval from your manager to amsinvoices@alexmann.com. You dont get a return receipt, and no notification your invoice has been approved / rejected / processed unless you email them and wait for an answer.

Everyone I knew was on the same, and most had been moved about onto various projects as there wasnt enough funding from Atos Origin to cover the people they recruited. It was all speculative that they would secure funding or simply terminate people when that didnt happen.

You might be allowed to invoice in the fifth week, but they will probably pay another 30 days later. Everyone I worked with had this. I was on £350 a day, the others £260.

I was verbally threatened with the sack by a project manager at Atos Origin, who then admitted they didnt have enough money to pay me, and would I consider taking two months holiday! Then he said 'take a pay cut, and ill increase your salary at christmas... depending on how much holiday the others take...', then verbally agreed a 3 month contract on the same salary.... or he would sack me at 7 days notice (he knew I had two signed copies of the contract extension). Then Alexander Mann sent me an email at work at 4pm on the last day of the original contract saying I was terminated, without reason. The same PM whod threatened to sack me then offered me a 'technical reference'.

Doesn't sound too good. However, I have made it clear that I intend to opt in to the agency regulations and I have an interview set up.

They try that stunt on with me then they will be sued for breach of contract.
