    APRC Code of Conduct

Members acting for and on behalf of candidates seeking temporary, contract or permanent employment will supply the best possible advice and have their best interests represented at all times.

Wording taken from the Association of Professional Recruitment Consultants Code of Conduct.

Not only is the code flouted by god knows how many recruiters, the point that really caught my eye is the emphasis given to 'contractors' being employed and because the word 'seeking' assumes that we are in fact job hunting or being offered work.

The wording should state something like this:

All members should act in the best intersts of their clients but they should also consider the need of candidates' whether they are seeking temporary or permanent employment or are represented to their clients as freelance contractors. In all cases, we will provide the best possible advice to them and represent their own interests at all times.

Don't this industry know exactly what they're dealing with?

And who decides what the best advice is?

Similar thing happened to pensions. Each company had its own sales force and some IFAs sold a variety of products. The govt thought people were being hoodwinked by the self interest of the sellers so they decided to legislate. Given that it is impossible for one person to know enough about Insurance products to be equipped to give an individual a thoroughly objective review of products against an individuals personal unique requirements, how does the govt rectify the situation?

What happened is that the government dramatically reduced commissions to sellers of pensions, and it also introduced the concept of mis selling. The result?

    No one today buys pensions,
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone
