grow a pair and deal with it. If they won't agree to a rise then walk. Sounds like she is a bit of a bully and needs to be pulled up about it.

Been debated many times on here. There are always two camps: those who take the tulip, and those who go mental in return. I've always found that going mental back at a mental manager - in public - gets the job done. They then go and pick on easier prey, as they are all gutless cowards when it comes down to it.

Your call. Grow a pair, or suffer.

Firstly, what have you done (apart from put up with the manager) that puts you in any position to ask for an increase? Regardless of the work situation, you need to be able to highlight what you have done and what has changed since you agreed the position and the rate.

Of course, you could argue that you need an increase just to stomach working there any more, which may or may not be a realistic argument.

Anyway - this is what agents are for. Your contract is with them, so negotiate your increase with them and be prepared to either walk or back down.

Have a read of the early articles on this blog to work out which personality type she is - i.e. is she a nutjob?

You can be in an abusive relationship in the work-place. The work-placei s full of people with narcissitic and borderline personality disorders.

Thanks for all this chaps! love the references to growing a pair. made me lol.

My answer at the mo is to turn this into a challenge. A learning opportunity. I just got out of the way of dealing with personality disorders.

I have taken on more than the original job spec required so feel comfortable asking for a raise/'promotion'.

            Thanks again

                    Speaking of which...

No wonder he's getting his arse kicked by a girlie, he's a bloody Vegan! If he'd just learn to eat animals he'd grow a proper pair and deal with this bitch. I don't know, what is the world of contracting coming to these days...

What was that about tough love?
