SC clearance useful in non-sc roles?

    Ok guys more questions!

    1) does sc clearance help in roles where it is no needed? I.e is it a selling point? Should it be plastered all over a cv?

    2) can You use clearance for other places or does each place require it's own type of clearance?

    Much appreciated

    1. Nope not really. Arguably you shouldn't put that you have a specific level of Clearance on your CV (or message boards come to that) since it's a Security breach.

    2. SC is transferable, some Government agencies need to do variations on the theme (Cabinet Office and Home Office spring to mind), they will always do a BPSS first too of course (or the prime contractor will). SC automatically lapses if not used for 12 months.

So if you are security cleared should you try to keep it by finding another sc role before it expires or does it not really matter?

Oh it matters. If it lapses then you're not cleared and the whole form filling, waiting for it to come through, coping with agents that won't deal with you as you lack clearance malarkey starts all over again.

It's a benefit and a trap at the same time.
