    Work for an individual

Do any of you ever do any 'direct' work for an individual rather than a company? While obviously not as lucrative, are there any major differences or pitfalls compared to B2B work?

    Thanks.

Milan occasionally does a bit of kinky stuff on the side but apart from that I'd say you're looking in the wrong forum.

What things do you handle differently from contracting to a company? I guess there's no contract for a start...

Why not? I don't see why the type of contract you form with a company couldn't also apply to an individual.

It could be that you're more likely to be paid as it's less likely an individual will go bankrupt than a limited company.

generally they are very small jobs so may be a different scenario to yours.yep no contract just verbal agreement.

the last one I did was help someone setup trading on ebay. From buying a PC onwards.... THey paid me a few quid in cash and then 5% on there 1st 2 months proffits (their idea).

Thanks for all your thoughts. This is a very small job, so I'll go with a verbal agreement on hourly rate and then invoice him/her at the end of the job. Thanks.

                  go with an email agreement

quote hours and stick to your quote

else quote maximum hours and complete early

                  good luck

make sure you get an agreement of the work to be completed, say that you are working on an hourly basis, and get them to sign your timesheet when you leave....

I do a similar thing, i get a request to deliver some services (via email), with a list of tasks to perform, then i would recommend a timeframe to complete these tasks, then i do the work, get the client to sign my timesheet (been there, got the t-shirt, DONT do it without one!), invoice the client (with timesheet / copy of email requesting work) and wait for the spondoolies to turn up in my bank!
