[QUOTE=nfoote;1175538]Agreed, where are your LIVES going? One of the perks of contracting is having a lot more time to enjoy life (between contracts etc), where's the enjoyment in 2+ hours travel each way each day? My current commute is 25min .. on a bicycle .. and as I said before I have nobody waiting at home depending on me to do anything for them, and I STILL look for ways to make more of my life MINE.
    [QUOTE]

That's jolly nice for you, but I'm sure people don't commute so far out of choice.

Most of us take roles as they come up, and try to take advantage of the real perk of contracting (more money than perm).

Why do you hate it ? You are homepreneur, you chose it if you can't take it go work at tesco.

Sure, I reckon more coin is the key perk too, as in a bonus or extra benefit of the lifestyle choice that is contracting. I guess within that choice there's lifestyle and there's LIFEstyle.

Have to agree with HAB. I had a 2 year stint of working from home and it was bloody awful. Not seeing another body for days on end. I had to stop the postman just to chat to a real life human being so he changed his route so he delivered before I got up. Can be very demoralising.

                WTF are you on about?

I at home because I am not a UK business. Officially, I'm getting medical treatment, but I'm not sure how long I can get away with that one.

If I was a UK business, I'd be out of here and into a proper office like a shot.

Yep, you've got it. Fracks my mind up. I lose sync with what day it is, or even what time of day it is. Personal standards drop . I work at my desk from when I get up until the time I go to bed. It's the same every day of the week.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

40 miles is bleeding walking distance!
Come back with your "piece of piss" stories when you've done that through the Winter on a motorbike, in the snow. That's what I did. You're just a big soft girl, you. Don't know what a real commute is.

I don't know, contractors are getting so soft these days...

All, it's against the agency regulations for an agency to submit you for a contract without telling you who the client is, especially if you ask to know the client name. Don't let them put you forward to such clients unless they tell you the client name, or tell them to check up on the agency regs if they without the client name.
