Fire and forget – It is probably worth trying to get in touch for a role you are a great match for and really want. I never do this but have no idea if it has cost me benchtime, I think more likely it has kept me sane and in a good frame of mind. It’s depressing getting lied to and raising your hopes, same goes for ‘feedback’, forget it, you get the job, you win, anything else is a fail, I never chase for this. When I have done interviewing, the feedback I gave was yes or no, don’t bother getting the agent to tell you some BS.

This thread got me thinking, I've been contracting now for 6 years and I dont think I've ever landed a contract that I applied for directly from a job site.
All the contracts won have come directly from agents ringing me after finding my CV (as it's registered all over the place). Now that might be down to me bing too lazy and just pinging my CV off and never following it up with a phone call but I also like the idea that I'm never the one doing the chasing!Comment

It's highly unlikely they will just forget to contact you if you're a good match, I've had an agent call me withing 30 seconds of applying before now.
I think someone on here reckoned on a 100-1 application to landing role ratio, it may be much higher than that.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

Same here... although I think that agents have all the CV's they need before they place an advert.Originally posted by stacks View PostThis thread got me thinking, I've been contracting now for 6 years and I dont think I've ever landed a contract that I applied for directly from a job site.
