I'm sure this has happened to others but it amazes me how lazy recruiters are.....
Just had an agency - Forward2 in Leeds (forward 2, recruitment specialist catering for the construction industry) - email me at my CLIENT email address to try to head hunt me for a role I was totally unsuitable for and for me to pass around others to try and find a candidate.
When I asked them where they got my details from (because I never list client email/phone/etc with agencies) they simply said they made it up. Translation, we got it off LinkedIn, saw where you were working and made it up because we're too lazy to use LinkedIn or our current contact details to try to get in touch.
Aside from the obvious illegalities of sending email to contact details that have not been registered (seem to recall this is part of the Data Protection Act somehow) its highly unethical and just provides yet another example of how lazy recruiters in the UK are. Its especially bad when they don't see anything wrong with the practice.
Notice to all you dodgy agencies out there - sending emails to contractors at clients simply means they'll inform the client of your harassment and you'll never get to place contractors for them.....
