Contracting in Yorkshire & from Home..

Does anyone know of any agencies that specialise or might have more contracts than others in the Yorkshire region?

Or.. contracts or work that can be done from home or own office?

    Thanks,
    Darren

      reed etc

I've not really used them. Shortage of contracts of the nature I need in Yorkshire. I also have a disability, so I can only commute daily.

There seems to be a lot of contractors looking for work and not that many contracts around (in Yorkshire that is).

      Thanks,
      Darren

the nhs / sytegra do quite a bit of wok in leeds - may be worth chating to one of the agencies who supply into these projects. search under nhs on jobserve and i'm sure that you'll see one agency stad out. (as i understand they're not a great agency but they may have roles in suitable locations)

I know Abraxas had a deal with the 'biggest IT project' in Leeds. Lorien have an office in Leeds also and are pretty good.

Where abouts can you travel to? Yorkshire is a pretty big place.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

          I preferred version 1!

              I'll contact Abraxas. Thanks.

Main places I can get to are: Leeds, York, Sheffield, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Hull.

It's hard enough when you're restricted with geography but I think the marketplace is very hard at the moment, with little sign of a seachange - seems to be plenty of people available and not many contracts with the relevant matching skills.

A friend of mine works for a company in Essex - they requested CVs from one agency. Within a week they had 5 CVs but over 40 other potential candidates, and somehow a few other agencies found out about the contracts and also sent CVs. I'm sad to say that I don't have a very high opinion of IT agencies. Only one good one I could recommend from personal experience would be BCL. They went out of there way to help and paid me on time weekly, never missing a payment. Shame I can't same the same about others.
