Spring IT and Computer People Payroll Crash

Anyone else affected by the recent joining of Spring and CP and their payroll crashing last Friday? Apparently 100's of contractors have either not been paid (me!) or been paid incorrectly.

Have rung CP so many times and the useless Contractor Portal monkeys, nobody has a clue why payments havnt been made "maybe this week sometime"?

OK guess nobody here contracts with either Spring or Computer People....

But what would you do if on pay day your agency simply doesn't pay you?...that was last Friday and all I got today was the run around and pathetic excuses....the manager dealing with it is in a meeting....nobody really knows what happened....we don't know when your going to get paid....

Some people have mortgage payments waiting to be paid....

Should I be entitled to some form of compensation for what is their fu*k up?

Late payment isnt generally covered in our 'type' of contract. Its usually tucked away in a schedule and not the T&C's.

In any event, even if it was in the t&C's, Im certain they'd slip something in regarding force majuer ie if the system crashes, tough titty until they get it fixed!

Incredible another week goes by and nothing but excuses from Computer People.

No money being paid just pathetic excuse after pathetic excuse. Was promised a chaps payment for the third time this week and just nothing.

Have never experienced not being paid by an agency before.

Will never take another contract with Computer People.

But no money? If you'd agreed a payment schedule with them and you didn't get paid, then I guess you'd be entitled to withdraw your services.
I don't expect anyone to agree with me here but - ahem - is the client still receiving invoices for your services? Did you forget to submit your timesheet this week?

Edit: do I need to spell it out? A bottle of cheap plonk is probably 10 mins of your billable time - tops.

I'd be explaining to the client why you won't be back until the situation is sorted - racking up a few weeks of bad debt is not something I would want to do too regularly.

If the client starts getting involved (assuming that they give a rats arse about whether you get paid or not), it might push the agency to sort something out for you. If the payment terms are too long, then explain to the agency that you will be seeking to reduce the time between invoice and payment to reduce their level of bad debt.

They use stage school rejects. If they can't convince a candidate that they are less than nothing, they don't get the role. Don't feel bad though, there is a cruise ship out there who will employ them. Somewhere. Probably a Phillippine ferry.
