    Aston carter

Anyone any experience of Aston Carter.

    Comments, good or bad?

Their website says that they specialise in Investment Banking, but they've placed an ad for some embedded jobs. This is likely to be a CV trawl, so I want to know what to expect.

applied for a few roles through them. Never heard a dicky bird. Whenever I called, pimp was either 'on the phone' or 'away from his desk'. Bunch of ignorant cnuts if you ask me...

Had one dealing with them and they were fine. They did have a list of prefer not to use umbrellas that seemed to be compatible with the ones any of us would recomend not to use.

About 75% of the people I work with came in through Aston Carter. Not dealt with them myself but I know they are on the preferred supplier list of my place now and there apperently the 5th Largest bank in the world.

I suppose I only have myself to blame then. As a security architect applying for .Net dev roles I wondered why they werent getting back to me...

Either it's just him.... or it's just you.

yeah, know for sure they are on the preferred supplier list for at least one of the top tier investment banks. (GS)

                I wouldn't recommend Aston Carter

Been in contract 5 weeks & still haven't got contract
                through, haven't paid first invoice.

Initially thought just typical agency incompetence but
now beginning to worry they have no intention of paying.

Any suggestions on what to do?

                  No contract

I never start a new contract without a written contract.
Firstly, it's dodgy and secondly it invalidates my insurance.
Give them a ring and tell them that you want a signed contract by Friday otherwise you will walk.

You right about getting signed contract and ordinarily I would
but client was really insistent I started straight away (people on
                    holiday etc).

I've always worked on trust, good faith etc and been OK so far but
                    perhaps I'm just naive.

As for ultimatum & leaving I almost certainly would not get paid then but perhaps just best to cut losses & put it down to experience - always get
                    signed contract first
