Dubai - any experiences / recommendations welcomed

    Right then ladies and gents,
As being one of the more quiet folk on this board, I'd appreciate some honest opinions.

Am going through the motions of negotiating a contract in Dubai to start within the next month or so, so I'm after any recommendations or stories of working out there. Luckily my potential employer will be providing flights/accomodation and hopefully a great day rate, so just looking for experiences of others who have worked out there. I haven't been drawn into owrking there by the tax free earnings either..........................................li ke YEAH RIGHT

    As always thanks in advance.

As an aside, I was looking at it on Google Earth recently and was surprised at how small the place is. Then investigated more on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubai to find its population (1m) similar to that Birmingham.

No income tax but the cost of living is sky high.

Be sure to factor that in when considering a role.

I was there recently a friend has started work there. Lots of messing around to get papers sorted. Cost of living very high. Traffic is mad. Many project have a few people who know what they are doing, trying to manage a couple of hundred Indians who don't. I thought about it before, but now I have seen it I'm not so sure.
                Fiscal nomad it's legal.
