    ARC Recruitment

Right, it's my turn to do a, "Have you any experience of Agency XYZ?" In this case it is ARC Recruitment who are based in Brighton and London.

Every day they post about 20 plus London based finance market juicy permanent (100K plus) and contract roles (500 - 600 a day) but they rarely ask for finance experience. They look too good to be true, particularly when compared to the vast majority of other job specs, and their website does not mention them. So, it looks like they are simply there to collect CVs.

Anyone actually got a job or contract through them?

3 years ago I found a permie role through them in a bank. The director at the time (Tim Barton I think) was very well connected. He was a senior HR manager in JP before he started arc. At the time it was mostly one man show.

He managed to get me several interviews in 3 large banks. I haven't seen them posting non existent jobs before.

I've sent off dozens of applications to ARC with not a single response, not even for what is obviously a dream cannot-be-better-matched CV.
Now the problem is trying to find contract ads on jobserve that are not posted by ARC. They must cover more than 50% for the typical middle-tier skills keywords search. I have suggested that Jobserve ban them.

        Arc

I got my current gig via their Brighton office. It's in the medical industry.
They always pay on time and reply promptly to all emails and calls.
Oh, and they've taken me out to lunch twice as well.

Maybe it's the London office that are swamping the job sites?

Well it's an eye-opener to see that they do exist and have actually placed happy contractors... However the number just don't add up. Think about it: there can't be maybe a hundred London jobs going at 600 per day in the first place, let alone exclusively to ARC. All they will do is alienate the resource they are trying to sell to.

I have spoken to them once or twice over the years, but have never got anything thro' them.

They do seem to post similar adverts at regular intervals???

me too never seem to get anything with them so stopped applying for any
              roles with them.

I can tell if a role is live cos I am registered with several large agencies so if
something does come up and it's live 90% chance I will get a call from all of
them offering me the same contract , and then having to tell one of them I've
already been put forward about 5 mins ago......

Jobserve Ban agencies? We PAY for that service - do you REALLY think they'll walk away from the money that this business is paying them? They couldn't give a flying saucer whether the jobs are real or not!

                Can't argue with that

your 100% right, no way jobserve would bite the hands that feeds it.

one thing is Arc IT Recruitment says it "ARC IT adheres to the REC Code of Practice"
but there is a big difference between adhering and being an actual member
subject to the full inspection and audit by rec.

Yes the large agencies who do call me for real jobs are REC members so I recommend you should try to select agencies who are at least full members REC also REC has
                  good working relationship with PCG

I know of a job in london that has been advertised everyday by ARC for the last three weeks ... And, the job exists. I have a friend who has been interviewed by the client (thro someone else who contacted him on LinkedIn).

Yes, there are real jobs that ARC posts.
