What (same/1.5/2-times the normal) rate are you, in general, paid for the weekend (or late in the evening) work, if the contract doesn't specifically mention this? Is the treatment for contractors with regards to billing for weekend work different than what it is for permies (again generally speaking)?

If the contract doesn't mention it you are on standard rate. Haven't seen a contract with an increased rate for weekend work for quite a few years now.... -

Never got an increased rate for weekend work, but if I had to come in especially for something unexpected for a short period(e.g.an hour or less), I was allowed to include my time travelling to and from the clients premises to make up for the inconvience. This wasn't written down, but a verbal arrangement.Comment

I'm on a daily rate so don't charge any extra for evening work - not that I've had to do too much in my current role. I also haven't worked the weekend yet but if I did it would be at my standard daily rate.Loopy LooComment
