You really aren't listening, are you? IT SKills are not on the register of skolls shortages, thanks to the sterling work of the PCG and others, so you will not get a work permit for an IT skilled job. That works for HSMP as well, since if we don't need the skill it's not highly valued, is it?

Anyway, we should care less about one worker in a specialist field. Let us know how you get on. If nothing else it will be interesting to compare real experience of the system to what they say they do.
    Blog? What blog...?

ok so I have nowhere to go? I know a few people who got their HSMP passed last month. They are IT workers. So suddenly there isnt a skill shortage? Ok I wont apply. Kudos

There never really was a skills shortage. Just a shortage of people who would work for low wages.

If you don't apply, you won't know what the answer is ... ask those you know who did get one what they put down on the forms.
Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

There was never a shortage of Man United fans either, except perhaps in Manchester.

What exactly is a 'Web Search Engine Marketeer'... sounds like a list of meta data, automated submission to engines such as google, and the use of pay per click advertising and peer linking.

            Hardly a skill.

There are quite a few highly skilled locals who cannot find work, so Im afraid I have little sympathy with someone else trying to join the masses appllying for each job from all over the planet.

What exactly is a Web Search Engine Marketer you ask me mate? Sounds like a list of meta data, automated submission to engines such as google, and the use of pay per click advertising and peer linking is what you tell me mate? Hardly a skill you state mate?

I have gotten many websites ranked top 10 on google for their BEST keywords. Thats what a search engine marketeer is. I've gotten instant revenue for online startup businesses using adwords and overture. Thats what a search engine marketeer is. Its unfortunate that someone from the UK cant even understand what marketing means. When you'll have managers coming in from India then you'll say "whats Project Manager? sounds like a guy who kicks other guys' @#* to get the job done. Hardly a skill."

I fully sympathize with the UK locals. However, every person who can benefit the UK economy in some way should be in the UK. There arent enough search engine marketers which is proven by the fact that there arent enough successful online businesses in the UK. You should try and understand the fact that allowing highly skilled persons to work in your country and being socially open to a global culture will help create a boom in the IT sector which will mean each and every company would start doing better than what it is now, and they wouldnt need to offshore any work in the first place. It would create more jobs for the UK residents.

                Trip trap...

OK, name five... And do not presume to lecture the people on this board about the realities of the UK economy, nor the benefits of global markets, nor the myth that giving jobs away somehow creates more jobs. You may not have noticed, but we live and work with it every day.

I know someone who works for a company who are doing this. In India, where it's cheaper.

PHPExpert, from what you say, while I can understand why you personally might want to be in the UK, is there any reason why your work should be? It sounds like what you sell is quite saleable from wherever you are. If you can't find a company to sponsor your coming to the UK, maybe that's because potential clients think so too.

In other words, if the question is not whether your work could profit a client in the UK, but how you can be able to come to the UK, then the answer is to find a skill that can't be offshored. Same problem as Brits face in keeping a job.

I think our government sees it rather more as:

However, every person who can claim benefits from the UK economy in some way should be in the UK.

I think your skills have already been outsourced to India. Sorry.
