    what's happening.

They are bringing over new recruits on ICTs. This is not allowed and you can report them to (somebody).

OTOH if they are long standing overseas employees, then there is nothing you can do about it

Thanks for link. I've looked at it before and not sure it's what I had in mind. Mainly because all my 'evidence' is circumstantial (based on one on-shore/off-shore guy telling me how poorly he and his colleagues were paid). Also I have heard David Metcalf from MAC talk on R4 and concluded he is paper tiger trotting out party line. What we need is some kind of SWAT team to turn up and give all the on-shore guys a run-through to make sure the system is not being abused.

Sadly, the task of creating such a team would go to EDS or Fujitsu or another of the overseas outfits the government uses so as to hide the fact there are more public sector workers now than there have ever been. They in turn would probably recruit from overseas...

what you knuckleheads don't know is that a non-EU applicant sued an employer for discrimination when an ad said they would not accept individuals currently lacking rights-to-work in the UK. So clients and agencies acting on their behalf are only ensuring that that is covered in the text of the ad; it shouldn't be interpreted as "welcoming" non-EU applicants but ensuring that in the ad their ability to apply is articulated.

I'd pay serious money to be there to watch that happen.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

You do have a very good point. I have to agree that no one would be stupid enough to put that in an advertisement.. surely? However there is no disguising the fact that the intra company transfer is a total abuse of what it was intended to do.

The emergence of "onshoring, or "near shoring" are simply examples of how this abused and corrupt system has manifested itself into an acceptable contemporary business model.

It is actually no different from prostitute trafficking. The workers are stuck on low/lower wages here in the UK and in all liklihood would suffer if they raised their heads above the parapet.

I have absolutely no problem with the concept of offshoring. I also understand why it is necessary for offshore workers to occasionally spend time on client sites. This has however created a grey area that is being exploited by so called "reputable companies.

How can an honest British pimp possibly compete?

An interesting, and I believe legitimate, analogy. However, in this case there are links between the major perpetrators and the Labour party so it will never be stopped. If ever the Conservatives take power then these links will be renewed with them instead; so they won’t do anything about it either.

He is right, i can't see the why tory's would give a toss, it's not a big vote winner.
