    Umbrella company

Contracting pal is in a fix with an umbrella. They are witholding his tax money. He was not an employee of the umbrella, rather it was done as an LLP. Hector wants his tax, the tax is tied up in the LLP and the accounts lost so apparently there is a big pot of money but no record of who is entitled to what.

The umbrella is in the process of being wound up, and the accountancy firm (owned by the umbrella) is fobbing off the contractors accountant.

What's the likely outcome here? Will he be in hock to Hector and be stuck in messy law suits?

Check the thread on Bradbury / Sunday Solutions over on the Accounting/Legal board. Sounds like your mate is in a similar position. IE, Not a good one.
