If you are bored then why not return the favour and send them a duff CV and contact details of fake people at client companies.Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

Been watching American financial news morning program, seems everyone is optimistic and confident that the recession is winding down now, they predicted that we’ll see a growth in the first quarter of 2010, everyone is doing a cautious happy dance . I gather that for contractors, this means more work/rates during the second quarter of next year.Comment

Bear in mind that, if history is anything to go by, the contract marked usually picks up at least one quarter before the dingbats in the media cotton on to the fact that a recession is ending.Originally posted by zamzummim View PostBeen watching American financial news morning program, seems everyone is optimistic and confident that the recession is winding down now, they predicted that we’ll see a growth in the first quarter of 2010, everyone is doing a cautious happy dance . In my last foray into the City a couple of weeks ago, I saw there were quite a few construction cranes present.
They used to be a marker for the state of the economy.
Sadly I could not get high up to count them. Does anyone else do this? Do they have an opinion? My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.Comment

Not quite the same but I do tend to take notice of any construction I see in a particular area and equate it to the economy. I don't think there's any sense in doing it but I can't help it. They're probably all abandoned and the cranes are the last thing to be removed from site...Originally posted by RichardCranium View PostIn my last foray into the City a couple of weeks ago, I saw there were quite a few construction cranes present.

At the end of last year I did notice that work on some major building projects in the City had ground to a halt.
I don't know if things have started to pick up again, I haven't had occasion to go back there recently.

Cranes are a bit of a lagging indicator because a project would be well underway before they appeared.
Someone elsewhere suggests a skip index i.e. count the number of skips in the street in an area. It's a far more responsive indicator. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
