Have you ever run into this situation:
1. Recruiter calls you about about a promising role, names the client
2. You wait for a while, don't hear anything back, can't get in touch with the recruiter
3. You get in touch with the client directly
4. The client interviews you, likes you, makes a direct contract with you
This has happened to me about three times... in all situations I had a suspicion that the client was paying off the recruiter behind the scenes but for some reason wanted to make the hiring process as silly and convoluted as possible...
Your thoughts?
