Perm jobs - don't do it!

Just had an interview for a perm gig at the arse end of nowhere.

Thought it would be good for some extra experience and to keep me out of the way of these loony rec-cons till things calm down.

After 2 hrs of interview, tests and, of course, missed earnings the guy casually told me the upper rate which was non-negotiable. It was £3k less than the pimp told me.

Looked like a sweat-shop as well (aka 'digital agency'). Made 6 months a year on a tulip rate seem attractive after all!

Ah the old "fast-paced, dynamic" gag. Hope you gave the agent a bollocking?

I had to look up what a 'Digital Agency' was, I am that thick.

I'm still not too sure what it really means apart from a load of young self-righteous, arty prats.

This what was on one site

      Together in one space
40 digital strategists, creatives, interactive designers, usability experts, search marketers, email planners, web architects, video specialists, developers, database integrators & business-minded, delightful-to-deal-with account managers. All thinking people.
      Make me want to vomit.

I'll stick to trading and analytics thank you.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

That would make me want to puke all over their roll-top sweaters as well.

But not that sophisticated in this case, just a sweat shop banging out loads of feeds to the media.

We need figures, was it 3K less than £75K or 3K less than 30K?

Just trying to gauge perm vs bad contract rate.

            ...erm <awkward shuffle> £3k short of £35k - that's not impressive is it?

                which was non-negotiable
don't fall for that one! Nobody's going to quote you a figure and then tell you it's negotiable. Everything's negotiable, including negotiability.
