Part-time banking contracts

Do these exist? I know you can get them if you negotiate after starting, but are any companies looking for them from the beginning. I doubt it, but just wondering.

Can't be arsed to do a 5-day week. 3 seems more suitable.

Good luck with that. In banking, the definition of part time is doing a 40 hour week.

Iv seen Contractors in other domaind who do 3-4 days a week but in Finance and banking, thats generally quite unseen.Maybe in good old days that would be possible. But in this doom and gloom, It nearly looks like impossible.

In my permie days (in a City based brokerage house), they had a Perm BA who they allowed to work 3 days a week coz he was some sort of Sportsman and was part of national team or something like that. HR sent an email to everyone and showed off that 'We care too much about Work - life balance'..bla bla....


Best of luck anyways...Iv never had that luxury but I always dream to work only 3 days a week with a decent daily rate....

Very Rare, usually the people who have them started on 5 days a week, and through time proved themselves and proved they could do the job on a a 4 day / 3 day week. I have only see 2 cases in 6 years!!

This is what I did over two contracts and 7 years worth of work: started on the 5 day week and then did the same hours in 4 days instead. God how I miss those days!

Mind you, did manage to work one day a week from home on my last gig for a year, so there's scope in there once you've "proved" yourself (and let's face it, against their permies that nomally isn't too difficult! )

Part time contracting

I work part time as a BA in finance. I think i was lucky that they needed someone with my skills at the time and I basically said it was that or nothing. Once I was in the role, they knew I could do the job and then it was easier to get another. Been looking for contracting jobs but none found yet. I dont understand why as they get a BA part time, costs less, but part timers are always on catch up so I think you still get more than 21 hours per week.
I still have my life and they get someone who could actually work more days if needed.
