    SC Clearance

    Hi,

Do I need to disclose a LTD company that went into liquidation for SC Clearance as I was a director? The company was involved in retail. Directors did not go bankrupt and have a very clean credit history.

    Thanks.

It is best to declare everything you think is relevant. There is a page at the back or you can attach a page for anything they have not already asked you that you may think is relevant.
If you tell them they can decide if it is relevant. If you dont tell them and it was then you are in trouble.

A lot of people seem to think that if they have a "past" they will fail the clearance. This is not necessarily the case.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

If you are found out for omitting details that are requested, or bending the truth in any way then forget getting SC.

I know people with criminal records who hold SC (having declared their record). The bigger risk is those who lie and therefore are open to blackmail at a later date.

If it was a clean company closure with no debts then it won't be an issue. As mentioned just note it on the additional information sheet and there won't be a problem.
The key is to disclose and be honest. If you fail to disclose stuff that can be turned up by a search of court records etc then odds are you would fail the vetting.
