There seem to be numerous full time jobs but contracts have evaporated...
I don't think that applies to just .NET, or to just the North East, does it? I'm not looking for work myself right now, but almost all the unsolicited emails I'm getting are for permie roles.

About a month ago there were quite a few contracts but its went off a cliff these last few weeks.

The North West is tumbleweed and I'm waiting to hear about a nice juicy 6 month-er near Gatwick at the mo'..
Obviously it's best to have a 'go wherever' attitude at the moment, but often agents and clients can't see past the postcode on your CV.

I'm beginning to wonder that myself - my current contract (about to run out) is up north near to where I live but this has been my only contract near home. All of my others have been down south but I'm getting no response at all for roles I apply for down south now.
