I doubt that a client would take someone on for a 3 month role knowing that half of that time could be without the correct clearance.

Oh well, back to combing jobserve......
I believe a SC Clearance is currently taking 13 weeks.

I've had SC for years, it's not doing me any good at the moment though.

I was contacted earlier about a MoD role doing basic breakfix, I wouldn't normaly be intersted but times are hard so I heard him out until he said it was paying £13ph.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Unfortunately it's true. Can you request vetting through your current employer?

A fee is payable to the DVA for clearance so unless the clearance is needed for the role it's unlikely they would shell out for it.

Please read a few posts up re who can request SC clearance to be done by the DVA.
Unless yourLtd is ListX or a Government Department that would be a sizable NO.

It's not allways true that the agent will not recruit you without SC clearance, some will, some won't, but they'll probably go for the SC cleared applicant first.

If the contract is for a short period or if it's a prerequisite for getting on site or access to systems needed for you to do the job then you probably won't be considered as it normally takes 3 months for SC.

For longer term contracts where you will be allowed supervised access then there is no reason not to consider you other than the risk of you not being cleared which is probably low unless you've been really bad or a member of the communist party etc. Even if you have poor credit, criminal record etc you'll get clearance as long as the DVA can see you're not a risk.
