Hopefully someone could advise me on this.

I'm making an online application and required to copy and paste my cv into the relevant box and submit. When I do this, the formatting gets messed up, even copying and pasting from a html version of the cv. Is this expected? If I submit the cv, does it automatically get transmitted into a readable format at their end? Don't wish to make a hash of this and would be grateful for any advice.

Is this Monster or iProfile?
The cut and paste CV option does not work for me either. I think that both sites are a pile of pants.
In the end I manually updated a Notepad file and used this to cut and paste then made the heading bold manually.

No it's actually a direct application on the company's website. I think more than anything, it's meant to automatically pick out all the keywords in your application based on the the type of work you are applying for and makes it easier for HR to look at only those applications which match their criteria. Or even store it in a database for future use. My concern is, eventually they will have to print a hard copy of the cv and it's not going to look right.

Doesn't sound like you have much choice other than what someone suggested and create a half decent .txt version (minus formatting) and submit that instead. At least that way you retain some control over how it looks at the other end.
