As it is I had 4 weeks to train my Indian replacement. He's been on the phone a few times since I left asking for me to help him to do my old job. I guess my training wasn't up to much - but then neither were his skills.
I would imagine your private consultancy rates are £400 per day?

They were certainly using them for cheap techies but for general contractors I think Elan had the exclusive contract.

          Yep - Elan and Manpower.

Although there are exceptions - I've got a direct contract with a company that sub-contracts services to BT. So I've got no agency in the loop. Hopefully this cut will not effect me - not found out yet.

Speaking to the guys here, it only seems to be Elan contractors that are affected. TechMahindra contractors here haven't recieved anything yet but that may be as they are on a lower daily rate than us hourly paid Elan contractors already.

The really bad bit is that we have until the 7th April to accept it otherwise BT terminate your contract..Nice

Contracting at BT is a bit of a holiday though, so you are probably still pinching money.

Techmahindra operate differently in that the guys they supply under contract are their own workers ( or they were when I was there ) rather than actual Contractors.

Certainly was when I was "working" in Leeds

The number of contractors who appeared to have managed to "fall through the gaps" and get forgotton was astounding. Nominally meant to be doing something but the management chain was so chaotic the people paying the bills had no idea if the work they were supposed to have been doing was getting done or not or even what they were supposed to have been doing to begin with.

By the time I left I was filling in automated time sheets that required no management authoriasation from anyone who actually knew what I was doing. I just filled it in and submitted it to BT then then took a screen shot and mailed it to the agency to get paid.

Different parts of BT work differently. Some UK agencies were asked to reduce their rates, some said No. Some contractors with those agencies were not renewed or they were asked to move to a "cheaper" agency. Once in the cheaper agency their rates were cut

Write a VMware Config Document by cut and paste from the ESX Guide - verbatim with no bespoke info and then bill for 4 people for 6 months to do it!
