Agent I spoke with a few weeks ago told me "the client want someone local and NOT from London, they've had their fingers burnt in the past because they know as soon as another gig comes up closer to home they'll p*ss off".

Well if they're smart enough to predict the friggin' future then they already know who they'll get.

Sheesh. More and more I find myself thinking, I don't actually want that job, I just thank F I won't be working with those arseholes.

The only times I've ever been turned down is when applying for contracts in the UK and they suddenly realise I live in Germany. I don't know why UK agents bother contacting me about roles in the UK. Other countries in the EU have no problems with me commuting from another country, Germany quite likes people me as Germans are not that willing to travel. Oh, and the rates in the UK tend to be piffle anyway so I tend to turn them down halfway through talking to an agent

I've just had an agent refuse to put me forward because I'm overqualified - even though I was ok with the lower rate and the long commute and it was only a short contract.

1) Because I did not supply 2 references
2) an agent phishing for leads

Where I work it's only the contractors there most days, everyone else seems to WFH....
