Words in adverts that p*ss you off...

Ok, thought I'd start the ball rolling from my own extensive experience so far in 2009:-

    1. NHS
    2. Security Clearance
The cycle of life: born > learn > work > learn > dead.

"please do not apply unless you have this experience"

"you should only apply if you have this background"

How about treating contractors like adults with a line such as "Successful applicant for this role, will come from XYZ" Then they can then decide if they think it's a role worth applying for?!?!

Yeah it's great being able to do the job inside out I'm applying for..

If they carry on with this bs, then after ~25 years when everyone has retired there will be nobody left with NHS or SC to apply since there's no market entry for it.

Annoying when (no joke) 30+ jobserve alchemy emails came in my inbox today and every single one of them was "you will come from an extensive NHS background".

p.s. it's quite clear that with such a large number of NHS jobs out there constantly advertised there is a big lack of supply in the market.. maybe they should open their doors and get someone equally (or more) capable? It takes the p*ss out of the Governments equal opportunities scheme when all they want to do is employ people on contracts over and above the terms they are restricted by through normal employment.

What next, you can only apply for this job if you have black skin? It's got nothing to do with being able to do the job..

I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

The one that niggles me are those that have an obscure requirement right at the end that should have been in the heading. For example

            PRINCE2 Project Manager
PRINCE2 practitioner qualified IT project manger required for public sector client client. Experience of Oracle desirable. Duties include project planning, staff management, management of risks, allocating work, printing plans, holding meetings. Must have experience of quality management. Exposure to source code control systems desirable. Knowledge of EDMS beneficial. Must have local government or central government experience. Fluent Bulgarian essential.

Sorry, just further to this - why do they bother advertising them on jobserve if they only apply to about 0.00000004% of the audience viewing them.. oh wait a sec, that could be my lucrative plan B - lets make an NHS contract jobs only website! Rant over!

It's not really bs to want an already cleared person, especially if you're talking DV which will take 6-12 months to get. Without clearance the chances are you're not going to be allowed access to anything that would enable you to fulfill the role anyway. I agree, it's frustrating but I can see why they do it.
