    Applicant count for a contract

    Anyone beat 137 ?

    #2
Agent claimed this morning he had ‘nearly 200’ applicants. I said ‘bulltulip’. He said ‘well OK, not 200 but a lot’. I said ‘you mean about 10’. He said ‘mmm, yeah, something like that’.

    Bullshytters one and all.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

Don't think I can. The agents have been saying 'about a hundred' to me. ie. plenty but nowhere near a hundred

91 only. I've heard a few pimps now talking of 100 applicants / contract.

I went for a role not long ago where Agent A rang me then quoted 175 applicants (then 150 the next day in another conversation).

Another agency rang me about the SAME role and when I told them I'd already been put in for it by Agent A they then quoted 600 applicants through themselves..

So I guess if both are telling the truth they had 750 applicants (assuming only 2 agencies were on the case, and no duplicate candidates).

It was great to be shortlisted, then get an email a week later saying they managed to fill the post but would keep me in mind etc etc..

Another role I went for which I got an interview for had over 200 recently.. (or so they say).

One of my colleagues got to 147 within 3 hours about 3 weeks ago - myself, I think my record is about 80 odd, but my roles are generally very very very niche.

The 147 quote above does not include irrelevant people calling in to "check whether they'd be right" (and yes there will have been agencies fishing for info in there too) before sending details.

Poor bloke - looked like his ears and eyes were going to fall off/out by the end of the day.

Think it depends on what you have as a skill.

I had a chat with a agent last week and her only words of comfort were at least you are not a PM I have well over 500 of them on my books now and I have given up even trying to sift them ( I am inclined to believe her as she did me a favor and gave me a few internal names of ex customers that could help me out)

This week The UNIX world has gone mental and I have had 7 interviews booked for this week ( 3 down and already confirmed 2 for seconds)

Until this Monday I had managed 2 interviews in the last 4 months...

                    out of work banker

                    That's all they can do.

I think I'd rather be an out of work tecchy than non-tecchy just now.
