Where have all these agencies sprung from?

Seems like there are 5 times more agencies out there that 1 year ago?

What with the credit crunch some of these will go bust so what are the larger agancies in the UK to go through with (supposedly ) less chance of going bust before paying my invoices..?

    cheers

they were always there - its just now they are all fighting to fill the fewer jobs - hence they get on the fone to us for leads and more bulltulipe.

A number will be going out of business - namely the small / medium ones that were not prudent with cash reserves.

What frequently happens is that when the large agencies cull their staff in a downturn the employee goes out on his own with an own company.

Often he knows no other way of (trying) to make a living, so it's not surprising

So far I have heard of no agencies going to the wall in the crunch. When will the carnage start?

          Good question.

I did have one agent who, on hearing that I was direct on the current contract, advised me "helpfully" to be careful, lots of companies are going bust these days. Couldn't help thinking that I have heard of more agencies than clients going bust.
