I took out Nov, Dec and January with the same issues..then started a 12 monther yday.

I went through the same tulipe! but something will come up!.....this was the first time in 12 years Ive never ad anything lined up and it was damn quiet but things do seem to be moving?

The only thing you can do is to keep plodding, applying for actual as opposed to imaginary contracts, ignore the fishing pimps.

I was a tad panicky when me OH got made redundant, but there's nothing you can do.

17 years in unbroken work for me never seen anything like this...
like everyone else I saw the dead cat bounce in Jan but here we are into Feb and still nothing on the horizon.

I guess then nobody is safe in this storm, no matter what length of experience or skill base you may have.

Its a matter of being in the right place at the right time, with the right skills I assume. Problem is there is a lot of people waiting for this chance to come.

Couldn't agree more, however there are things you can do to put yourself in that right place at that right time.

Same boat here. In the teens of years of contracting with only one time I didn't walk straight into the next gig and that was during the dot com slump. I'd say this is even deader, it is not a good time of year and I would hope for some improvement come April. The problem come April is that the numbers of people benched and chasing any new gigs will be a bit scary.

Even permie jobs come April will be hellish to get due to the entrance tests/exams, first, second, thid interviews.

Of course, with a lot more people looking.. rates/salaries will go even lower
