contract drops in my lap again... oh well

Previous client has been hassling me for a couple of months to go back - I've been resisting because I fancied a break and, TBH the work was dull, but this time when I got the monthly call I thought what the hell, could do with some funds back in the company account so I suggested a 4 day week (yes I'm lazy) citing *other* projects....

    They said yes ok.

So looks like I'm off the bench again.. oh the chore...

If you were any good, you wouldnt have been on the bench in the first place!

Nice try - I deliberately turned down the last renewal to sort the house out prior to selling it... which we subsequently did with a full price offer based on a pre-credit-crunch valuation

Since then we've (obviously) moved and I've been enjoying some chill time

Congratulations, it does appear that the contract market is holding out at the cost of getting ride of dead wood permies. If there is uncertainty it's best to have contractors.

Yes it was said tongue in cheek. Being good or otherwise doesnt have much impact on whether people get benched in the current climate.
