Beware Agencies are desperate for leads!

Check this email I recieved today from a london based agency - not mentioning any names:

It’s that time of year again when the majority of agencies relax a little in the build up in the up to Christmas. Here at Premier, we are actually busier than ever with a wide variety of both permanent and contract vacancies!

I am therefore taking this opportunity to find out if you are still searching for a new job opportunity?

If so, I would be grateful if you could help me help you by answering the following questions:

    * Where are you working currently and why are you looking for a new role?

    * Reason for leaving last position?

    * What locations / commute are you looking at?

    * What salary are you looking for?

    * What type of role are you looking for?

    * Companies/industries that you have a particular interest in? If you have been to a particular company for an interview this too would be very helpful.

If you wish us to fast-track your application, please provide a contact reference from your last two places of employment.

If you could submit your most recent CV for our records this will definitely help your search.

I look forward to speaking further over the coming weeks and securing work for you asap.

    Kind regards,

I'm sure these are cut and paste jobs. I've had an almost word for word email but from another agency.

I don't understand why agents are so active at the moment? I hadn't heard anything for months yet my phone hasn't stopped ringing for the last couple of weeks.

Can someone explain why they are doing so much fishing when there clearly aren't many gigs about?

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Agencies are always desperate for leads, nothing new I'm afraid.

Because we are now at the stage where we are letting these agents go due to them not hitting their targets.

Given the choice between doing desperate fishing, or sitting around waiting for a requirement to fall out of the sky, we'd all do the same I'm sure!
