Agent Asked me not to go in on Monday ?

My question is can an agent do this ?
Is it a breach of contract ?
and should I get it in writing before even considering not going in ?

& count yourself a bit lucky that your agent has a bit of sense and balls. He's acting in the interests of his business in an above-board way (depending on what it says in your contract...).

My agent has let this situation come about themselves through not ensuring that the client paid them - I would certainly not let it lie if the agent failed to pay me

I am not lucky to have an agent that waits until a friday afternoon to tell me not to go in on a monday - If he had kept me informed for the last month then I may have agreed with you in part.

And at least an email (in addition to)would have been more professional than just a phone call - obviously the agent doesn't wish his request to be easily verifiable.
And my contract states 4 weeks written notice (but that's just for early termination so I don't know how that would impact on a suspension of said contract) perhaps his request would be considered a change to the contract if not an early termination.

I'd go in and discuss the situation with the client, preferably whoever is in charge of the client/agency stuff.

With only two weeks left, maybe the client has terminated the contract with the agency and they're trying to stop you getting your due notice period payment by concocting some other excuse.

I'd want to hear what the client has to say, never ever trust an agent when there's a way of getting another side to a story.

WHS - Email/phone whoever you reported to at the Client site and simply ask, "What's the full story on this?".

The agent rang me on Friday afternoon saying that as the client owed them money I was not to 'go on site' on Monday.

My question is can an agent do this ?

The contract has two weeks to run and the notice period for termination (according to the contract is 4 weeks)
